Top Ten: Why I love fall

10. Because mini chocolate bars are everywhere and are darn cheap.
9. Because I like turkey and turkey leftovers, aka turkey buns.
8. Because you can jump in the leaves. (yes it's me, age 5 jumping in leaves, notice lack of curls during this period)
7. Because sales people go nuts and offer christmas stuff early.
6. because it always seems easier the first semester.
5. Cause martha stewart has cute pics in her fall catalogue (that's the pig, isn't he adorable. I'd take him home... Wait I raised pigs at the Fort, the crazy things would try to knock you over on purpose, fall in their troughs, roll in poop and suction their little snouts to once clean blue jeans... on second thought I'll hold out)
4. Because T.v. is classic, simpsons treehouse of horror this year (17!) the great pumpkin charlie brown, pooh and thanksgiving too! (I only watch that occasionally)
3. Cause it's only a couple months away till RK gives us all 400 big ones.
2. Because we have long weekends where we can trek off to BC.
And the Number one reason, drum-roll please.....
1. Because everything is red and yellow.
peace out

The Wait is Over

So the day is finally here. It was a long time coming, but it finally came. Season 4. As some of you know, gilmore girls is a part of my life. When season 3 came out we hosted an allnight marathon to celebrate the event. Today is a good day. While I don't have plans for an all night event, I can safely say that my roomies and I will be up late to celebrate the blessid event. Thanks to those who have made this all possible. A big shout out to WB for coming through for us one more time.

Imagine waking up one morning and walking to the bathroom, looking in the mirror and realizing that... you DON'T HAVE A FACE!!! (forget that it would be impossible to see that you don't have a face) How would people treat you? would they make fun of you and call you names?

Would they say something like, there goes that faceless girl, or would they think you were adorable, intricut and beautiful and try to collect you and all your other faceless friends and put them on display all over there houses showing off their collection... I ask why? Why are people so drawn to these faceless creations.

I spend HOURS at work unpackaging and displaying willowtree ornaments, figurines and boxes (ps we're having a sale on willow tree if you consider yourself a collector) just to display them for a few days and learn that I need to put out more faceless creations because they have already been purchased.

Come on guys they aren't real wood! Sorry there's my work rant for the day.
Have a good night

Sheilded from connection

"It's the sense of touch. In any real city, you walk, you know? You brush past people, people bump into you. In LA, nobody touches you. We're always behind this metal and glass. I think we miss that touch so much, that we crash into each other, just so we can feel something. " ~Crash

Very interesting movie about human nature. I think there is truth in the fact that in our western society we have sought to remove as much human touch and contact as possible, maybe out of fear, maybe because it's awkward or maybe it's our own defense mechanism against the pains of real relationships. In taking this a bit further, C.S. Lewis said this, "To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it careful round with hobbies and little luxeries; avoid all etanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket-safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable...The only place outside Heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers of love is Hell." (The Four Loves)
Just some scattered thoughts of this evening.

Movie Review

Quick 80's movie Review. Not like you are going to pick this one off the shelves at blockbuster but you might be tempted to watch it on access or something like that on a boring sunday afternoon. Stay away from this movie. I just watched for a class, the entire movie in one really long class and now have to write a paper on the counseling strategies that should be applied to this child Junior. THis movie sucks. Incredibly unrealistic, bad language and a trillion terrible anti-adoption references. It may have been funny in the 80's but is so unpolictically correct now, it should be taken off the market. Anyway if you are hankering for some 80's funny time pass on this one.

school makes you smart?

Apparently school is starting in the fine city of calgary and everywhere else for that matter. For the last two weeks I've been in denial of the idea that I was actually a student. It's funny how you can trick your mind into believing that you are a career person when in fact you still pay a large sum of money to an institution that claims to shape your mind (or aid in the process). Normally I love school but this semester is different. I am only taking a 2 classes. As a person who juggled 7 a semester this is too little to consider myself an actual student. My brain doesn't feel like getting molded this week which is lucky because I will actually have to miss the first days of school due to my failure to acknowledge I am a student and can't work full time while being one. I have no binders, supplies or books, although it has begun I will not give in to the aluring taunts of research papers, sylabi and yearbooks. I will hold tight to my indian summer and wait it out as long as I can...
